FINDING & DESTROYING MICE

If you have a mouse problem you’re not alone! Mice can easily shrink their bodies to fit into almost any space, which is why they are so common in our service areas (the areas in and around Aberdeen, Huron, Mitchell, Mobridge, SD; and South Dakota & Sheridan, WY).

These little rodents have long whiskers, large ears, and can be white, gray, or brown.

If you see a mouse in your home, you may be tempted to think you actually saw a rat. So, how can you tell the difference? While the two look similar, mice are 20cm (about half the size of rats) and have triangular (rather than blunt) snouts. They also have furry tails instead of hairless ones.

Don’t let their small size fool you – mice can spread disease and damage your home! And since they’re nocturnal, you’re most likely to be surprised by them when you’re relaxing after a long day.

At Pfitzer Pest Control, we treat mice throughout the year. We offer a Premium rodent and insect package that GUARANTEES control of your rodent and insect problems all year long.

After treatment, you can help keep mice away from your home by:

  • Placing a few bait stations around your property
  • Repairing gaps and holes around doors, windows, and your home’s foundation (mice can enter through pea-sized holes)
  • Eliminating outdoor hiding spaces by:
    • Elevating wood piles
    • Removing dead brush
  • Frequently cleaning under kitchen appliances (food can easily collect under these)
  • Putting up unused food or drinks
  • Sealing any pet food you leave out overnight
  • Fixing gaps in your roof (this especially important if you have a tile roof)
  • Repairing cracks in your foundation, pipes, or vents that lead outside
  • Keeping decorations in a tightly sealed container (mice can live in boxes that you carry in and out of your house)

Mice typically live about two years. But during that time, they can multiply significantly – each female mouse can have 60+ babies in a single year!

By chewing through insulation, wires, books, and more, mice can cause extensive damage to your home and your belongings. If you’ve been dealing with mice in your home, call one of our knowledgeable technicians today.
