Centipedes & Millipedes

Millipedes and centipedes aren’t generally considered to be harmful pests, but that doesn’t mean they belong in your home. Millipedes are commonly spotted in the fall. You may know them as wireworms – the little guys that curl up when you touch them.

These pests are often found in dark, moist places such as:

• In basements
• Near plumbing pipes
• Beneath decaying leaf litter
• Beneath mulch

Our standard insect sprays will take care of these little pests as they do not require a special type of chemical. In general, it usually takes a few hours to a few days for our treatment to show affective.

Centipedes are another pest not too common in our service area.

They tend to hang out in dark, moist environments such as:

• In leaf or grass debris
• In rotting logs
• Under stones
• In piles of trash
• On floors
• In walls
• In cluttered areas
• Near plumbing drains

Centipedes are predators that feed on other pests, including beetles, spiders, roaches, crickets, bed bugs, silverfish, and more. If you have any of these pests in your home, it is likely that there are also centipedes hiding somewhere. They will also enter a home in search of shelter and water.
