At Pfitzer Pest Control, we don’t let ants inside your home. Our expertly trained local technicians are equipped to eradicate ants. We use methods proven to be effective for controlling ant infestations and customize our treatments to the unique requirements of each home or commercial property.

When springtime arrives and the weather warms, it’s not uncommon to see ants in our service areas (the areas in and around Aberdeen, Huron, Mitchell, Mobridge, SD; and South Dakota & Sheridan, WY). 

As one of the strongest creatures on earth (with the ability to carry more than 50 times their body weight), ants can enter your house unnoticed by crawling through tiny cracks and crevices in your walls.  

Since ants are social insects, we treat them with a special chemical to ensure we take out the entire colony to bring them under control. The best time to schedule an ant treatment is sometime during April through September. However, we’re happy to treat them during the other months if you spot them. It usually takes 3-7 days to see complete results from the treatment spray.

Our Essential or Premium services package is great for taking care of ants, since it also includes treatments for other social insects (like wasps). We can also provide a specific treatment for ants only – just ask!

 After treatment, you can do the following to help keep ants away from your home: 

• Determine where ants are coming from and repair or seal the source
• If you aren’t able to find how the ants are entering your house, then do the following:
  
  • Repair cracks and gaps around your home’s foundation
  • Seal gaps or openings around your windows and doors
• Clean up after meals and under kitchen appliances to eliminate any food left out for the ants
• Use liquid bait or ant spray (be sure to follow the directions that come on the package)

Keep in mind that liquid bait takes time to work. So, be sure to give the ants a chance to carry the poisonous bait back to their colony (instead of just killing them as soon as they gather around the bait).
