OUR STORY
It all began in the fall of 2009, with a young man and a dream – to build a future for himself and his soon-to-be wife. Although our hero, Garret, didn’t always envision himself as “the bug guy”, he found that after working in the industry for a handful of years already, it allowed him to do what he loved most…to help people.
Upon entering holy matrimony in 2010, Garret and his bride, Karen, used their very opposite skillsets to grow the business. By this time, Garret had become quite the bug scholar and was the first line of defense between the bugs and his beloved customers. Karen, on the other hand, had no experience with bugs but had several years of sales and marketing experience and a MBA burning a hole in her pocket. They shared a passion for people and a sense of pride in their work.
Together, they grew their business to five locations throughout South Dakota and Wyoming. They strive to support each of the communities to which they serve by joining the local Chamber of Commerce, giving back to the communities and spending as much time at local events as possible!
Today, they are supported by a team of amazing and caring technicians and an office crew committed to making each and every customer experience top notch.
MEET THE TEAM
Founder & Senior Pest Control Technician
Garret, already a tenured pest control technician, founded the company in 2009. Wearing many hats, he continues to serve as our most senior technician, bringing years of expertise and hands-on experience to the team.
Born and raised in Mobridge, SD, Garret always knew he wanted to stay local after college. He’s the mad scientist of the group, constantly studying various chemicals and how they work against different pests in our area. His passion for pest control and problem-solving is a driving force behind the company’s success.
Outside of work, Garret enjoys hunting, ice fishing, reloading, spending time outdoors, watching movies, and traveling the globe.
Owner, Marketing and Sales
Karen founded the company with Garret in 2009, starting as the "late-night" bookkeeper to now focusing on growth and customer satisfaction through marketing and sales. Karen grew up in the Mitchell, SD area, traveled the world, and now holds a primary residence in Mobridge, SD. Her favorite part of this business is the ability to help people find a resolution for pest problems that they didn't know could be cured. Karen loves to travel, listen to podcasts and audiobooks, spend time with family and friends and play the saxophone
Customer Support and Office Manager
Cheyenne is the friendly voice on the phone and a dedicated advocate for our customers, ensuring their needs are met and services are executed correctly. Originally from Mobridge, she moved around a bit before ultimately finding her way back home. A proud mom to her daughter, Elenore, Cheyenne thrives on building connections with customers and making sure they feel valued and taken care of.
Her favorite part of the job is talking with customers and ensuring their services are handled smoothly from start to finish. She takes great pride in making sure every detail is in place so that our team delivers the best experience possible.
Outside of work, Cheyenne enjoys spending time with her daughter, listening to podcasts, cooking, and riding her horses. She’s also quite the baker, constantly experimenting with different types of delicious breads.
Pest Control Technician in Buffalo, WY
Tyler is a lifelong Wyoming resident who grew up in Buffalo and now calls it home once again. A proud boy-dad, he loves spending time with his family and cheering on his favorite Denver sports teams. With his personable nature and commitment to quality service, Tyler has quickly become a trusted and well-liked technician among our customers in Wyoming.
His experience and attention to detail make him a thorough and reliable technician, ensuring every job is done right the first time. In addition to servicing his customer base, Tyler’s expertise and resources allow him to oversee our Gillette location, providing valuable guidance and support to the team. Whether he’s problem-solving in the field, assisting customers, or helping operations run smoothly in Gillette, Tyler brings professionalism, dedication, and a friendly touch to everything he does.
Pest Control Technician
Alden has been with Pfitzer Pest Control since opening the Sheridan, WY office in 2013. Over the years, he has developed a deep understanding of local pests and rodents, making him a wealth of knowledge for both customers and the team.
Originally from Michigan, Alden moved to Wyoming after high school and has called Sheridan home for more than 30 years. He takes great pride in understanding customers’ needs and ensuring their treatments meet expectations. His thorough approach and expertise make him a trusted resource in the field.
Alden and his wife, Kathy, have three grown children. In his free time, he enjoys hunting, shooting, reloading, and reading.
Retired Pest Control Technician
After seven years with Pfitzer Pest Control, Bruce has retired and is enjoying life with his wife, kids, and grandkids. Though he’s stepped away from the daily grind, he still lends his expertise by helping problem-solve and train new employees from time to time.
During his time with the company, Bruce worked in various locations throughout South Dakota and Wyoming, always bringing a wealth of knowledge and a fun fact or two about the industry. He was the glue of the team—checking in on everyone, keeping things organized, and always managing to put a smile on your face. His dedication and thorough approach were undoubtedly shaped by his nearly 15 years in the Army.
Bruce now enjoys his well-earned retirement by spending time with his family, gardening, cooking, watching westerns, and making the most of this next chapter.
Pest Control Tech in South Dakota
Ashton joined the team while attending college and has been a valued part of our business ever since. Originally from Mobridge, SD, he was a standout athlete in high school, earning recognition as one of the top competitors in the state for football, basketball, and track. Now working full-time in Rapid City, he continues to support the business whenever he can.
Though his career has taken him west, Ashton’s love for the outdoors keeps him connected to home. He still enjoys coming back to Mobridge to hunt and fish whenever he gets the chance.
Lawn Care and Pest Control Tech in South Dakota
Trey has been offering a helping hand to the team during the summer months for more than five years. He is an Elementary School teacher and basketball coach first and seasonally works with our HQ in Mobridge to support us during the “busy” months. Trey grew up in Sisseton, South Dakota, and moved to Mobridge for a teaching position. He enjoys the outdoors and spending time with his children and fiancé.
Pest Control Technician
Jared grew up in South Dakota but sought out the sunshine, moving to Arizona for a number of years before returning home with his family. With an extensive background in construction, he brings a valuable skill set to pest control, using his knowledge to assess and address issues effectively.
A dedicated girl dad and proud grandpa, Jared values family just as much as he values his customers. He is thorough in his work and takes great care to ensure that each situation is handled properly. He believes that pest control should be individually customized to meet each customer's unique needs, providing the right solutions with attention to detail and expert care.
Though he’s back in South Dakota, Jared still cheers for his favorite Arizona sports teams and enjoys spending time with his family whenever he’s not out helping customers.
Customer Support and Business Development
Jil is a natural problem-solver who loves a challenge—there’s nothing she isn’t willing to figure out. Originally from Gillette, Wyoming, one of our service areas, she knows the region and the people well, making her a great resource for both customers and the team. You may hear her on the phone or receive communication from her as she helps ensure everything runs smoothly. She enjoys learning how all the pieces of the business fit together and takes pride in making the customer experience as personal and seamless as possible.
In addition to her work, Jil is currently attending online college at LSUA, working toward her bachelor's degree in English Literature. A true book lover, she enjoys reading whenever she’s not working or studying. She also has a creative side and spends her free time making beaded lanyards and beaded medallions. Whether tackling a new challenge at work or bringing a creative project to life, Jil is always eager to learn and grow.
